Dock Strike in Hong Kong

The Hongkong International Terminals ( HIT ) , the biggest container terminal operator in Hong Kong, are facing a serious strike of their workers since March 28, over a dispute of wages.

The situation has worsened over the holidays in Hong Kong from March 28 to April 1, resulting in HIT having won an injunction order from the Court to bar unauthorised demonstrators from entering or occupying any of the four terminals at Kwai Tsing operated by HIT and COSCO-HIT as from last evening.

But demonstrations and strike continue outside the terminals.

It was reported that ship operations had slowed down in the last few days, and schedules of ships are beginning to be affected.
